This document outlines the clear, scalable process for student submission, grading, and the granting of course completion and credentials for all online courses at Cross Life School of Divinity. This process ensures academic rigor, practical application, and administrative efficiency.
All courses utilize a blended assessment model to evaluate both theological knowledge and practical ministry application.
Assessment Components and Weighting
The final course grade is calculated based on the following weighted components: Assessment Component Weighting Purpose Grading Method Module Quizzes 30% to ensure comprehension of core concepts and retention of module-specific information.
Automated (Multiple Choice, True/False) Final Comprehensive Exam 30% to test overall knowledge of the entire course curriculum and theological principles.
Automated (Multiple Choice, Short Answer) Practical Application Assignment40% to evaluate the student's ability to apply course principles to a real-world ministry context. Manual (Instructor/Grader Review) Total 100%
To successfully complete a course and earn the corresponding Accredited CPD hours, a student must meet the following two criteria: 1. Minimum Overall Score: Achieve a minimum final course grade of 70%. 2. Minimum Assignment Score: Achieve a minimum score of 60% on the Practical Application Assignment.
The assignment is tailored to the subject to ensure practical relevance: Ministry Field Practical Application Assignment Example Evangelism Personal Witness Plan: Develop a detailed, step-by-step plan for sharing the Gospel with a specific demographic or individual. Discipleship Training Discipleship Session Outline: Create a 4-week outline for a one-on-one or small group discipleship session. Apologetics Case Study Response: Write a 500-word response to a common modern objection to Christianity, using course principles. Worship Service Critique: Analyze a recent worship service based on theological principles, providing a written critique and suggestions for improvement.
The process is divided into three phases: Submission, Grading, and Credential Granting.
1.Complete Coursework: Student completes all required Module Quizzes and the Final Comprehensive Exam within the Learning Management System (LMS).2.Final Assignment Submission: Student uploads the Practical Application Assignment to the designated submission portal in the LMS by the course deadline.3.Preliminary Grade Calculation: The LMS automatically calculates the preliminary final grade based on the 60% weighting of the automated components.
1.Assignment Review: The Instructor/Grader manually grades the Practical Application Assignment according to the provided rubric (within 7-10 business days).2.Score Entry: The Instructor/Grader enters the score into the LMS gradebook, which completes the final grade calculation (100% weighting).3.Final Grade Audit: The LMS automatically audits the final grade against the Minimum Passing Criteria. If the criteria are not met, the student is notified of the retake policy.
1.Course Completion Notification: If the student meets both minimum passing criteria, the LMS marks the course as "Completed" and notifies the student.2.Credential Issuance (CPD): The LMS automatically generates and emails the Accredited CPD Certificate (documenting the course title and hours) to the student.3.Certification Tracking: The student's completion is recorded in the master database for tracking toward the Professional Certification (which requires completion of all 8 courses).4.Final Certification Grant: Upon completion of the final course in the 8-course sequence, the Administration reviews the student's record and issues the final Professional Certification (e.g., Certificate in Ministry Leadership).
•Quizzes/Exams: Students are allowed one retake for the Final Comprehensive Exam if the initial score is below 70%. The highest score is recorded. Practical Assignment: Students who fail the Practical Application Assignment (score below 60%) are allowed one resubmission after receiving feedback from the instructor. The resubmission must be completed within 14 days of receiving the feedback.
